My speakers can play louder than you can sing
I’m sitting here trying to figure out what to write, listening to a Putumayo Presents CD for inspiration (Latin Lounge to be exact), when my sister, Andrea, walks up the stairs singing as loud as she possibly can. Or at least, so I thought. I turned up the volume on my speakers just a tad, because I don’t want to listen to her sing, off key by the way, “Hallelujah” over and over again. She sings louder. Possibly she’s thinking that I don’t really want to listen to the orgasmic sounds of Latin music, but instead want to listen to her sing badly, only repeating one word. Again, I turn up my speakers, because I’d really rather listen to the music, and this time, she stands right outside my open door, singing louder. *sigh*If she sounded like the music that was coming out of my speakers, I wouldn’t need to download music. She needs to keep taking vocal lessons. I have yet to see if they’ve helped her any. Either she doesn’t sing as well as she can when at home or we’re wasting a lot of money on her lessons.
I’ve spent the past couple of days re-arranging my iTunes library and all the music that I have on my hard drive. It’s been very frustrating. Anything with a bitrate below 192 has been deleted and re-downloaded. And, to be honest, I’m thinking of getting rid of those and sticking to 320. If only iTunes could play native FLAC. Everything is now properly labeled. I mean everything. Wikipedia has, again, become my best friend. I’ve made sure to put all the track numbers, even the year it was released. It’s becoming quite ridiculous. Everything now has album artwork, and if it doesn’t, I find it, because I want to use cover flow damn it.
I’m trying to find a decent version of the Next Stop Wonderland Soundtrack. For those of you that don’t know, it’s bossa nova and it’s wonderful. The movie was outstanding as well, starring Hope Davis. Who doesn’t love Hope Davis? Gaby introduced me to both the soundtrack and the movie.
I’m trying to expand my music library to include something other than Jack Johnson, Damien Rice, and Jason Mraz. I love them, but I just think I need to expand my musical horizons. If you check out my Last.fm profile, I’m sure you’ll be wondering why I have these crazy things on there that I’ve never listened to before. I’ve re-discovered Nirvana and The Smashing Pumpkins. Guster has never been more appealing, and I think I’ve taken Guster for granted, but that’s for later. I just think that I was stuck musically for a long time. Stuck meaning I was just narrow-minded and I never really expanded my music tastes and now I’m doing that. Anyone have any suggestions?

umm what’s wrong with your musical library having nothing but jack johnson, damien rice, and jason mraz?
Nothing is wrong with it. I just want to expand my horizons. :p
You promised!!
thank you
It’s good to hear people looking for new music. I myself am a little overloaded with music. I can’t go barely a day without discovering new music. Look at sites like last.fm, allmusic, etc and just start downloading related artists. From there you’ll see which types of music you like and which you don’t (better than you do now) and just keep finding more and more music. Branch until there is nothing left to listen to!
Oh, and loud music (as long as they are good speakers and high bitrate) is awesome.
Thanks for the tip, Zach. I’ll have to start doing that. Loud music is awesome, especially when it shakes your windows.
