Notes on being home
- It’s weird that after being gone so long that I come home and I still know exactly where to put the water knobs for the perfect temperature when taking a shower. It’s also comforting in a way.
- My sisters have grown up; they are almost as tall as me. The one thing that hasn’t changed about them: they fight like crazy with each other and they are spoiled.
- The water pressure here sucks.
- While I was away, my parents had some construction done on the kitchen. It looks nicer and it’s bigger. I feel weird when I’m in there because it isn’t the same one I grew up in. It’s like being in someone else’s kitchen.
- In the wee hours of the morning, when I’m trying to sneak downstairs for something, I still know the spots I need to avoid in order to no make the whole house creak.
- Olean is still a shitty little town, but now there’s a gay bar. Progress is being made. It’s all about progress.
- My puppy is a weird dog. But he’s smart. He acts like a human most of the time and it’s scary.
- My mom still makes pasta every other night of the week for dinner. I like pasta and all, but that’s too much. How am I going to lose weight with all those carbs?
- My dad still likes to bitch a lot. More so to feel like he’s doing something to get things done but he still needs to learn when to shutup. Same goes for my sisters.
- We eat as a family (minus Stephanie who lives with her boyfriend in an apartment by the highschool). It’s weird. We never used to do that. It makes me uncomfortable.
- Andrea is taking singing lessons and has been for awhile. They haven’t helped. She still sings when going to the bathroom. Now she also sings when cleaning the kitchen.
- Nicole now plays two instruments instead of one. She started off with the violin and she recently took up the flute. She needs to practice more.
- My mom had her back surgery when I was away. She doesn’t yell as much anymore, which is a good thing. But it’s also weird. It was kind of funny.
I complain a lot, I know, but that’s just who I am. Today my dad got the bright idea to re-arrange the whole downstairs. We moved the living room, dining room, and the family room. My dad gets mad when he has to do physical labor. I don’t know why. He likes to yell if things aren’t done exactly how he wants them done. But it wasn’t as bad as it usually is. Actually, he only yelled a couple times. And it wasn’t really yelling, it was more that he was snippy.
