i am awesome

damn the man

besides being a lesbian and disliking penis, damning the man is quite appropriate around the holiday season. i’m all for singing horrible christmas carols, spreading peace and love and joy, but when friends and family members are over in iraq and afghanistan for no fucking reason, i get a little bitter and upset. for a long time i had planned on going into the military. but when the truth about 9/11 started to come around to me, and the truth about the Bush administration started coming out too, I felt like it would be best if I didn’t risk my life for a fag hater. I only recently came out to my family and friends. Even before I came out, hearing how he felt about us “homosexuals sickened me. This man claims he is Christian. He claims he’s all righteous and shit. Whatever. You hate “homosexuals, you have women, you hate minorities, you hate everyone that doesn’t believe as you do, and you hate Iraqi children. Because if you didn’t then you wouldn’t have our troops over there in the first place, killing innocent people. You would have signed the U.N’s women’s rights declaration, you would have not blocked minority votes in the 2004 election, and you wouldnt be trying to imprison people with the Patriot Act. You are a fag hater, a women hater, a child hater, and this makes you a God hater. I am more of a Christian then you will ever be. I am more of a human then you will ever be. So I’m sorry if I seem a little cynical this holiday season. My friends are over there killing people and being shot at, even being killed. FOR NO FUCKING REASON. so happy fucking holidays. I’ve been a somewhat of a big fan of Michael Moore for awhile. He’s a bit extreme I would think to some extent, but he gets the message out. He’s a man working for the good of everyone. Because of him a lot of good things have happened. Well, he posted something on his website and I thought it was cool so you can all go check it out if you want. When I was eating dinner not too long ago my family ran into the tv room when they heard that the sentence for Scott Peterson had come in. They were happy that he had gotten the death penalty and my mom tried to justify her reasons by bringing up an eye for an eye. She said that it was in the Bible. Yes, mom it’s in the Bible, but not in the context that you want it to be in. So mom, dad, andrea, and even you nicole, this is for you. I’ll prove that it’s in the bible, but not in your context.

“You have heard that it was said,’Eye for eye, and tooth for tooth.’ But I tell you, Do not resist an evil person. If someone strikes you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone wants to sue you and take your tunic, let him have your cloak as welll. If someone forces you to go one mile, go with him two miles. Give to the one who asks you,and do not turn away from the one who wants to borrow from you. Matthew 5:38-42

OOO look mom and dad, the lesbian does read the Bible. However, many people hold the belief that Jesus would be for the death penalty. Mostly becuse he upheld the Mosaic law, which included the death penalty. But we also have to believe that most people who believe in God, see God in fear and not in love. Why do I think Jesus would oppose the death penalty? Well, outside of the fact that he was a firm believer in the forgiveness of sins, and also outside the fact that he told his believers to love everyone, um wasn’t he the victim of the death penalty himself? Granted, he had to die, because if he didn’t then, well, all the people who believe in him would be horrible horrible sinners, and we wouldn’t be ablet o get into heaven because the gates of heaven would still be closed. So Christians should be thankful that he was executed. I believe that He had to die, not for the sake of just Christians, but for everyone. I don’t believe that because someone is a Jew, or someone is a Buddhist, they will have a lifetime of hell. I believe that they will go to whatever their belief in the afterlife is, heaven, reincarnation, whatever. But my point is, is that if Jesus were alive to day in flesh and blood, he wouldn’t be for the death penalty. It’s cruel, it’s a ridiculously expensive form of punishment, and it’s wrong. THOU SHALT NOT KILL. and i can hear my mom and dad going…the lesbian really does read the bible. Sit back, because this is going to be a long post I believe. In Buddhism, there are five precepts. The first precept is the one that I’m most concerned with here. This is the RIght to life precept. Basically it states that all life is sacred and all beings should cherish all life. Buddhist societies must have codes of punishment to prevent further criminal activity, however the Buddha focuses on the individual during his teachings, so really nothing is clearly stated. Even so, if punishments are to be given, executions would only provide bad karma to the executioner, and you are supposed to avoid bad karma as a Buddhist. So punishment would have to be done in the spirit of compassion, and must be aimed at helping the criminal along their path of life by correcting them, and not killing them. You have to give them a chance to earn good karma that would make up for the bad karma that they have because of their crime. In Hinduism, the idea of correct behavior or living properly is the idea of “dharma. Dharma isn’t abou rights, but more about duties. It is your duty to serve the family, community, and society. Anyone who refuses to do this is set outside the criminal and religious law. In Hinduism, arguemtns for and against the death penalty can be made quite easily. Ancient Hindu civilization had highly developed civil, criminal, and religious law. In a couple texts of Hinduism, I forgot which ones they were, describes crimes and the punishments for them, and the death penalty is called for in a few and some which are crimes not resulting in murder. However, in the great epic, “Mahabharata, written by Bhagavad Gita, contains a passage that argues against the death penalty in all cases.

“The Mahabharata argues against the use of the death penalty is a dialogue between King Dyumatsena and his son Prince Satyavan (Chapter 257 of the Santiparva). In this scene a number of men had been brought out for execution a the command of the King. Prince Satyavan then says “Sometimes virtue assumes the form of sin and sin assumes the form of virtue. It is not possible that the destruction of individuals can ever be virtuousâ€?. King Dyumatsena replies: “If the spring of those who should be killed be virtuous, if robbers be spared, Satyavan, all distinction between virtue and vice will disappearâ€?. Satyavan responds: “Without destroying the body of the offender, the king should punish him as ordained by the scriptures. The king should not act otherwise, neglecting to reflect upon the character of the offence and upon the science of morality. By killing the wrongdoer the King kills a large number of his innocent men. Behold by killing a single robber, his wife, mother, father and children, all are killed. When injured by wicked persons, the king should therefore think seriously on the question of punishment. Sometimes a wicked person is seen to imbibe good conduct from a pious man. It is seen that good children spring from wicked persons. The wicked should not therefore be exterminated. The exterminationof the wicked is not in consonance with the eternal law.â€?”
Another thing to keep in mind is that the Hindu notion of punishment is not based on revenge, but rather the restoration of the proper social order, the dharma of the innocent, and protecting the innocent. There is also the concept of “Ahimsa, which was stressed by Gandhi, which means non-violence, and it is the belief that it is wrong to hurt any living being. In Islam there is nothing specific saying “don’t use the death penalty. In fact, the death penalty is okay to be used as a punishment. Ultimately, the decision is up to the victim’s family to decide. The Qu’ran says that a deliberate murder can be punished with the death penalty or the payment of “blood money to the relatives of the victims. However, the Qu’ran stresses the importance of pardon and mercy. The death penalty is an option as punishment in many crimes but after these crimes and punishments are listed out the Qu’ran says “Save those who repent before ye overpower them. For know that Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. To be merciful and compassionate is more in keeping with the spirit of faith then revenge is. In Judaism, the Torah describes the death penalty to be used for certain offences. However, Jewish law isn’t just contained in the Torah, but in the oral tradition of religious teachers and rabbis who are authorized to interpret the law. And the Sternberg Center of Judaism writes about the death penalty:

“In spite of the positive command to impose the supreme penalty, Judaism in its later development, known as Rabbinic Judaism, devised methods by which such punitive measures could and should be avoided. The laws of evidence were so minutely calculated that it became virtually impossible to impose the death penalty. In order to obtain a conviction the testimony of at least two witnesses had to be obtained (Deut.XVII.6), but the method of examination of witnesses was so punctilious that the slightest discrepancy in their evidence was sufficient to annul the charges against the defendant. Whereas the courts of today assume a man is innocent unless he is proved guilty, the courts of ancient Israel assumed a man to be guilty and had toseek to prove him innocent.
